When the "fasten seatbelt" sign is lit, that means the lavatory is out of use and you must be returned to your seat with your lap belt securely fastened. When the "unfasten pantsbelt" sign is lit, that means everyone has to cram into the lavatory and jerk it until the captain has deemed it safe to return to your seats with your lap belt securely fastened.
